Choosing the right tile

Did you know what you were looking for before entering the store?

We had an idea in our mind – we wanted a white tile with a random colour border or something like that. The aim was to replace the current bathroom tiles which were old and dated so we wanted something fresh and new to brighten up the bathroom.

What we ended up with was completely different to our original idea but as soon as I saw the display with the Bloom tiles my mind was instantly changed! We took so long to make a decision that once I had seen the display I knew that was my future bathroom and my husband felt the same. After seeing them for the first time at Tileflair we went to several other tile shops to make sure but my heart was set on the tiles as I could visualise them in my bathroom straight away.

Did you use any sources for inspiration to get the look you wanted?

It was a long decision so once we had the tiles we could get all the extra bits and bobs fairly easily which made the whole process a lot easier. We mainly used the shops for inspiration but we did have a look online and at some house magazines online to get a feel for the look we wanted and also to see what tile styles were about. The store helped us work out how many tiles we needed and our tiler was brilliant in helping us work out the design for the tile who suggested we have two décor strips running either side of the bath taps to break up the design.

Don't be afraid to go for a bold design but make sure your tiler knows your design specifications before they start!
