Using Pinterest to find your Tile Style

Using Pinterest to find your tile style

Looking for inspiration for your perfect tiles? Try Pinterest – the best tool for finding the style and design of tile that will suit your home and create the perfect look for you.

We know how important it is to find that perfect tile – the one that fully embodies your sense of interior style. It must be perfectly suited to your taste and your lifestyle, but it must be practical too. But with so much choice available in shape, finish, material, overall look and functionality, where do you start?

We suggest you begin by doing a little research and creating a mood board. Whether it’s for the kitchen, bathroom, living space or your patio, by looking at different styles of tile in different contexts, you can refine your list of things you like - colour, texture, inspirational pictures you like; basically ideas for your home.

Pinterest is an excellent tool for finding inspiration and looking at what’s possible in the world of wall and floor tiles. Not only do you have access to thousands of images, but you can curate and organise those images into categories so that you can refer back to them again and again.

How does Pinterest work?

Pinterest works on the principle of boards. Just like a real-life mood board, you can collect an assortment of images and pin them onto your boards. You can create as many boards for your pins as you like. So, if you want to collect images of green kitchen wall tiles, you can create a board and label it ‘Green tiles’. You can then create another board and label it ‘Patio floor tiles’.

Here’s a little guide to follow;

  1. Log into Pinterest and if you don’t already have one set up an account
  2. Type ‘tiles’ or 'tileflair' into the search bar
  3. Across the top of the page there will be a number of options that you can use to refine your search. Click on one of the options for tiles of that nature, or you can refine your own term. For example, if you’re interested in ‘metro’ or ‘patterned’ then type in these terms to enable the images with these elements.
  4. Continue with these tags until you have a number of pictures on your feed.
  5. When you find an image you want to keep, hover over the image and click the pin in the right-hand corner. A drop-down menu lets you choose which of your boards you’d like to pin it to, or you can create a new board, naming it as you wish, by clicking on the plus sign at the bottom. So, for example, I have a board called ‘living space floor tiles’, where I pin all my images of floor tiles I love. You can also write a brief description of the image you’re pinning to help you remember why you added it to your boards.
