FAQs
What is under tile heating?
Under tile heating, also known as underfloor heating beneath tiles, refers to heating systems installed under your floor tiles. These systems use electric mats or wet pipe systems to warm tiles gently and evenly.
What types of tiles are suitable for under tile heating?
Porcelain, ceramic, and natural stone tiles are all excellent choices for under tile heating. These materials conduct heat efficiently and are durable enough to handle the temperature fluctuations without cracking.
Do I need special adhesive and grout?
Yes. Use a flexible adhesive and grout designed for heated floors to accommodate movement from temperature changes. This helps prevent cracking and prolongs tile life.
How long before I can turn the heating on after tiling?
After tiling, wait 7–10 days before switching on the under tile heating system. This allows the adhesive and grout to fully cure and avoids any damage due to premature heating. Always follow the manufacturer's advice.
