"With tiles you can literally paint pictures in colour, texture, light and shape."

I wanted a contemporary design for my tiles in my kitchen with a neutral colour scheme. I have a modern looking kitchen with glass panels on the maple wood cupboard doors and long chrome handles. The kitchen gets plenty of light from the conservatory style doors that lead in to the garden. It is quite a bright room, so I could happily use the darker Trend Ebony Geo-scored tiles for the majority of the design.

These tiles have a contemporary feel to them and I liked being able to create an individual tile design. The colour works really well in the kitchen environment and will not date or age over time. I will replace these tiles when I see a new tile or tile design that appeals and I fancy a change of atmosphere.

I like the size and layout of the geo scored lines in the Trend (and Decko) tile range as it creates the appearance of repeated rectangular mosaic tiles. Traditionally 100 x 100mm wall tiles have been used in kitchens, which I like, but wanted a new and exciting tile design instead.

The Trend ebony colour suited the atmosphere I wanted to create in the kitchen. I like the colour as it gives a contemporary feel to the room. I also opted for Trend Moon vertical strips to break up the Ebony colour making the design more individual to me.

I used a white grout colour to place emphasis on the Geo-scored tile lines. 1mm spacers were used between the 400 x 250mm scored tiles so that you cannot see the separate tiles, only the continuous scored tiles, which is a lovely effect. A lighter floor tile was selected – Clasico Blanco to make sure the room does not become too dark.
